The
Secrets of How to Age Well
By: Wendy Stenberg-tendys
While vast riches
are created by plastic surgeons and producers of anti-aging products,
through playing on the needs of those who attempt to make a vain
attempt to stop-the-clock, aging is a natural process none of us can
get get away from . One of the great secrets to aging well is to not
allow the mind to stagnate, as there is no miracle fountain of youth.
Creativity and curiosity (yes, curiosity) are your two most powerful
weapons against the aging process and you are never too old to learn
something new. It is also important to continue to interact with
others around you and to live in the present, while keeping your sense
of humor intact.
The process of aging begins from the moment a person is born. Delaying
the effects of aging, while maintaining good overall health, should be
everyone’s ambition. Valliant, the author of the book Aging Well, says
aging successfully is like being tickled. – The best results are when
it is shared with someone else. These are a few questions some people
ask when thinking how to age well (some tongue in cheek):
Q: It is wise to be wed as a 60+?
A: Why not? As the expert says, it’s like tickling. Living gains a
richer result when it’s shared with somebody.
Q: Who gives up sex first, the man or the woman?
A: Surveys reveal that it is the man who reneges on sex before the
woman does.
Q: Does sex, like a good wine, get better with
age?
A: Yes. A recent survey showed that even 50 year olds are more
satisfied with sex, than either 30 or 40 year olds.
Q: Can 60+ still have good sex?
A: Recent surveys published on the British Medical Journal
website show that an increasing number of the elderly, including 70+
are having good sex and more often, as well as women in this group
being particularly satisfied with their sex lives.
Q: Can men or women above the age of 60 find
young, sexy members of the opposite sex who are interested in them?
A: Try looking in a bookstore under fiction, unless of course you’re
loaded in the bank balance department.
Q: Do programmers with high sexual content have
an impact on you?
A: Surveys reveal that when there is a high sexual content to a
programmed, people have more difficulty recalling the adverts.
Q: Is it common for 60+ year olds to have
difficulty with short term memory storage?
A: Storing memories is not a problem , it’s only when you try
to retrieve a memory that you find there is sometimes a problem .
Q: How can you increase the heart rate of your
60+ year old husband ?
A: Tell him you're pregnant.
Q: As people age, do they sleep more soundly?
A: Yes, but usually in the afternoon, while tending to stay awake
during the night.
Q: What are the most common statements made by
60+ year olds when entering antique stores ?
A: 'I remember those.' ‘I used one of those only yesterday. How come
it’s now an antique?’
Q: Why is it important for 60+ year old people
to use valet parking?
A: Valets don't forget where they park your car.
Q: Do 60+ year olds have troubling finding
fashionable glasses?
A: No, so long as they check their foreheads first.
‘Staying Alive’ is
what aging will is all about. The 1977 Bee Gees song ‘Staying Alive’
has been seen to be the most ideal speed with its103 beats per minute,
when performing chest compressions as part of CPR to someone.
